Fall

Fall is here!
In the last week the southern states have had some beautiful weather (hey, we deserve it!)
Tuesday night the entire family went to a high school stadium to watch many Bands play including Elijah's band, sitting on the bleachers with the bright lights overhead in the cool weather was just wonderful and it is what fall is to be all about.
Wednesday night Elijah's middle school had a football game against his old middle school, this game was being played at a different high school stadium and Elijah and his friends decided to stay after school to go watch the game. The thought of him being responsible to get himself over to the game and eat something for dinner made this mother nervous. I made sure he had his phone with him and that he understood he could not turn it on until after school, he had to have some money to get into the game and grab something to eat at the concession stand and call us when he is ready to be picked up. I had to put my two cents in and let him know not to kiss any girls, no making out underneath the bleachers, no smoking, drugs, and anything else that I thought would be a precautionary measure :) Having a teenager freaks me out a bit, maybe because I know what all they can get into!

Flooding

The saying 'Be Careful what you wish for' rings so true for Georgia. It wasn't too long ago that our Govener prayed in public for rain during a serious drought just last year. He along with many others got their prayers answered, the only problem is that they were not specific and caused flooding in many areas, some deaths, and a lot of damage! Including the above picture which is one of our hotels (with a pretty creek in the back of the property) that would rise up almost 3 feet in through the entire first floor. The hotel was evacuated with the last remaining staff members having to be rescued by the calling 911 for the police boat. They left a total of 13 cars that even moved because of the force of the water.

Flu

The No So Fabulous part of being back to school is the illness's that run ramped through the hallways.
The most recent that is spreading through the middle school and the elementary school is the H1N1 (yup, the swine flu).
Only a few short weeks back and Emma has caught it and fortunately we caught it early yesterday and have limited her exposure to others (except those in the household) After losing a short battle with insurance on the fact that Tamiflu will have to be filled in two separate doses each costing a co-pay of $60! (Let's not talk about insurance) we will have her back on her way to recovery.

Want to prepare yourself? Here are some tips...
-Wash Hands frequently with warm soapey water
-Cough or sneeze into your elbow or sleeve
-Stay clear of others who have flu like symptons

Elijah breaks away from video games every so often to practice his Alto Saxophone, however practice really picks up when back to school or just before a concert!
